Every year, the Brothers of Saint John in the USA Region gather for a fraternal meeting. This year it was Denver Priory’s turn to host the event. Ten of the guest Brothers were lodged at the Dome House and in both cabins throughout the week, and on June 4th it was RCH’s honor and pleasure to welcome them all on the Hermitage’s sacred grounds. No one remembered so many Brothers coming together at the RCH, since its inception back in 2002!
On that day we celebrated together a Votive Mass of our father Saint John, had a Chapter (including a presentation about the Hermitage’s past, ongoing, and upcoming projects), a cookout lunch, and then walked together the Stations of the Cross. Our Provincial, Fr. Jesus Rodriguez, C.S.J. gave us a meditation at the Risen Christ-Divine Mercy statue, and then we continued with the Stations of Light, all the way to the Transfiguration Lookout. This “mini-pilgrimage” concluded with Vespers and Adoration in the Outdoor Chapel, and with sharing the gathering’s last dinner, before Brothers’ getting back to Laredo, TX, Princeville, IL, Orange, NJ, and of course Denver, CO. Many thanks on behalf of all the Brothers to Bernadette Billinger who offered us her delicious homemade scones and muffins for breakfast – it was a hit! Another heartfelt thanks to Paul Glaser and his team for finishing the road repair inside the property just on time for our day at the RCH. More about this achievement, as well as other news, in a few weeks!
